Also, hamburgers should bee seen as a luxury, something you eat sparingly like cheesecake or shots of 151. Seriously tho, the proteins in cheese, bread, and the organically raised free range hormone free antibiotic free grass fed beef burger arent very compatible in the stomach, and result in undigested animal proteins fermenting in the intestinal tract (leads to colon cancers and other bowel/GI issues over time). The acids in the ketchup and mustard further complicate this as they cause the stomach to produce less hydrochloric acid to digest the meats. Carbohydrates in the bun and proteins in the beef and cheese require different enzymes and digestive juices which end up competing with each other, and result in half-digested food which gets stuck in the intestinal walls and ferments, as opposed to being absorbed as nutrition. The average American male carries around 5lbs of undigested meat in his intestines at all times.
Of course if youre not eating such quality, organic beef, may God have mercy on your bowels.
Its really no mystery at all why the West suffers from so many traumatic gastro intestinal disorders.
Beef (steak) is much friendlier on the stomach when consumed close to raw, and only with vegetables. In this state, enzymes within the beef make it easier to digest, as the rawness avoids destruction of such sensitive molecules. Sear it, or cook it rare. Obviously rare ground beef poses health risks of its own, so again return to the idea that a hamburger should be seen as a luxury, not a typical diet option.
Cant ever, ever go wrong with raw vegetables!
Its been well over a month since Ive had one of these puppies, I think ill punish my guts with one tonight.
